Tips to Clone GM TCM Module with MPM ECU Tuning Tool

By | June 11, 2022

Question:

Is it possible to clone the GM modules with mpm ecu tuning tool? make full backup of ecm, tcm, bcm and write it back to other used modules? I’m tired of paying access to GM for the original software.

Solution:

With MPM you only have flash data via the suite, to clone most instruments you also need eprom. PCMtuner and pcm-flash will allow cloning of some ECUs /TCUS.

for example the TCM you can clone but you need an unlocked TCM module. The instructions  (not the best).

5) Connect VCM Scanner to the vehicle by clicking the “Connect to Vehicle” button, NOT the “Start Scanning” button
6) If you are seeing values appear in the channels window or the gauges window, stop the data ogging by hitting the “Stop Scanning” button on the toolbar
7) Run the “Replace TCM” function from the “Vehicle Controls & Special Functions” menu (I forget the tab name, under system or something)
Follow the prompts to complete the “Replace TCM” function for the STOCK TCM
9) Stop scanner and turn off the ignition
10) Re-install the UNLOCKED TCM
11) Key on, engine off
12) Connect VCM Scanner to the vehicle by clicking the “Connect to Vehicle” button, NOT the “Start Scanning” button
13) If you are seeing values appear in the channels window or the gauges window, stop the datalogging by hitting the “Stop Scanning” button on the toolbar
